The anniversary LIGNA impressively demonstrated why it has been the global leading trade fair for the wood processing and manufacturing industry for half a century: 78,000 professional visitors from 156 countries, 1,433 exhibitors, over 114,000 m² of exhibition space, and more than 900 trade fair premieres showcased concentrated innovative power over five days.

tapio: From Curiosity to Established Ecosystem

tapio at LIGNA 2025 – our impression couldn’t be clearer: The question “What is tapio?” has evolved into a much more mature,
“We’re already using tapio solutions – do you have any other apps that complement them?”

This shift validates our strategy: instead of buzzwords, we focus on real added value – and on growing our partner and customer ecosystem.

Trend #1 – Tool Management Takes Center Stage

Interest in professional tool management solutions has never been higher. Visitors arrived with specific requirements, asked targeted questions, and sought out real solutions instead of generic product presentations.

Particularly twinio was at the center of attention: New tool manufacturers signaled interest in an integration, and many customers wanted to know:

“How does the switch from Excel to twinio work?”

Our ecosystem approach is becoming tangible – customers finally see their diverse realities reflected. Regardless of the tool supplier, machine format, or sharpening service – together with our partners, we can already support many of these use cases directly.

A special highlight: our expansion into timber construction – for example with Weinmann and BeA – was very well received.

Trend #2 – Familiar Faces, Growing Network

Whether partners, customers, or prospects: we saw countless familiar faces at LIGNA. This proves our network isn't just growing – it remains strong, stable, and provides real value.

Trend #3 – ServiceBoard: Standard or “Aha Moment”

In many companies, the ServiceBoard has already become a standard tool. In places where it was still unknown, our live demo delivered real “aha moments.”
Seen once – instantly understood.

Hands-On Successes: Onboarding Right at the Booth

Another highlight of the fair: onboarding customers live at our booth. From registration to app setup and homescreen linking – right amid the machine noise and exhibition buzz.

The new My tapio ran smoothly on all devices and was praised for its intuitive, modern, and well-thought-out design. The new user experience and integrated app store were especially well received.

Challenge: Clarity in the App Jungle

With every new solution, complexity increases – and so does the need for orientation. Our goals for the coming months:

  • Present the app portfolio more transparently: Which app solves what? What’s included in each package?

  • Provide sample workflows & demo data directly within the product: So customers can get started faster.

Apps Directly on the Machine – An Underestimated Highlight

The integration of our apps into the HOMAG PowerTouch interface is a true gamechanger: more credibility, fewer barriers to app usage.

One downside: this feature wasn’t communicated enough at the fair. We’ll be sure to change that.

Partnerships: From “Becoming a Partner” to “Using Interfaces”

Nearly all conversations at LIGNA focused on concrete integration scenarios. Abstract partnership agreements? A thing of the past. The focus now:

  • ServiceBoard as an internal ticketing system

  • twinio for company-wide tool data

  • Direct machine and software integrations

Discussions with major customers confirmed: the demand is there – and we’re ready.

Follow-Up: Roadmap & Next Steps

The fair brought us valuable impulses – and a clear to-do list:

  • New integration cases with tool and machine manufacturers

  • Pilot projects with large customers (for twinio & ServiceBoard)

  • Further development of app guidance – including demo data

Conclusion: The Industry is on the Move

LIGNA 2025 has shown: digital ecosystems and connected tools are no longer a “nice to have” – they’re a real competitive advantage. Our takeaway:

“More integration, more clarity – even closer to the use case.”

We thank all visitors, partners, and colleagues for the inspiring conversations – and look forward to shaping the next 50 years of woodworking innovation together.
